F*ck, my ankle...
Let's be real, getting injured SUCKS.
I was playing tug-of-war during our Apex For Youth field day last Saturday when all of a sudden the other team decided to take reign and whoop our asses with a quick tug. I was the anchor, but I lost my balance immediately and sprained my ankle. I couldn't walk, let alone stand, for the next two days. Shit, I couldn't even get out of bed without feeling some tension.
Honestly, I would've felt pretty isolated and lonely if it wasn't for my family, especially my dad.
Shoutout to all the loving dads out there!
I sprained my ankle a day before Father's Day, so my dad was pretty shocked when he first saw me. Instead of judging and commenting on how I'm too weak, he helped wrap my foot and was cracking jokes the whole time.
He drove me to and from the X-ray center even though he was running late for work. When I told him that I could call an Uber, he said he wanted to spend more time with me 😭
I wish I could pay him back for everything he's done for me from the moment I was born until now, but all I can show him is this Father's Day TikTok video I made of him wrapping my ankle.
I don't know what I did to deserve this amazing family, but...
I hope to continue their legacy of service to their community. When that day comes when my parents can't walk much, I will help them cross the street and wrap their ankles if needed. Til then I will do my best to spread love and joy in this world. If you've read this far then you're a real one. Thank you for tagging along!
